For Granita's birthday celebration a month or so back, we had an old-fashioned singing complete with homemade ice-cream, homemade pies, pound cakes, cookies.... We had it at the old school house on our family's place in Marble Falls where she lives. She invited folks from her church in Spicewood over after services one Sunday evening for the singing, and it was a great time!
My family loves to sing. I grew up singing at just about every family occasion we had. We'd pull out the old hymnals and Daddy would lead us in songs. We all got to holler out numbers for the song selection, which was fun for us as kids. I love my family.
While we were doing pre-party prep and cleaning, RJ entertained herself playing school in the old desks and by finding her little chair. "Look, Mommy! It's just my size!"
She also did quite a bit of dancing and twirling....normal around our house.
Here's the group, well minus Jason, Rayleigh, and Uncle Randy who were outside at the beginning....oh and me, of course, who's taking the picture.
My special Granita is the lady on the left.
No, she doesn't dye her hair, and I hope I inherit her good genes. :)
Whitney missed Rayleigh's birthday party last month due to being in California visiting friends and doing fun, exotic things like kayaking in caves. I'm not jealous at all (cough, cough). But, since she missed the party, she decided to take J, R, and I to see a live performance of Peter Pan. It took place at a children's theatre in Austin, and it was great! They kept the kids interacted the whole time, and Rayleigh never once got distracted. She had a ball - thanks Aunt Whitney. :)
Taking a picture before we go in...look at those smiles of anticipation!
After the show, we stood in line to get Tinkerbell's picture and autograph on the poster R colored.
Rayleigh received her very first haircut EVER last month. I had never ever ever cut a hair on her head since she was born. I loved her sweet curls at the end, and her hair had always grown evenly. It never needed a cut before now. The ends were starting to split (which you couldn't even really tell because of the curls), but I knew it was time.
Hoping she stays still long enough for me to cut it...
Here goes....deep breath, Val.
Now to get her to stay still so I can finish...
There is no end result because J & I were both wiped by the time we finished from trying to keep her still. Oh well.
